The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Breakfast is the nation’s longest-running and Boston’s premier event dedicated to honor the legacy of Dr. King. The breakfast is an opportunity to celebrate Dr. King’s legacy of service and begin the year inspired to live out his dream in our homes and throughout the community moving us closer to Dr. King’s vision of a “Beloved Community” with this year’s theme, “Remember His Words.” The event attracts an audience of about a 1,000 including leaders in business, civic, community, religious leaders, as well as education and community organizations from across Massachusetts. The breakfast features MC, SHAYNA SEYMOUR, co-anchor of WCVB’s award-winning, nightly news magazine, Chronicle. Hear engaging speeches from Boston’s dignitaries, live inspirational music and an inspirational address from this year’s keynote speaker, BAKARI SELLERS, a CNN political analyst, lawyer, and activist.
Certain books were “banned in Boston” at least as far back as 1651, when one William Pynchon wrote a book criticizing Puritanism.
