May 15, 2019 | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

In honor of the release of Crosswinds Poetry Journal, Volume IV, Newport Public Library  will host a poetry event, Wed. May 15, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. Editors and guests will read the winning poems of the Crosswinds Poetry Contest, chosen from over 3,000 poems received.  Music will be performed by Ben Kornatz. An open mic will follow, as time allows, so feel free to bring a poem to share.

Copies of Crosswinds Poetry Journal will be available for sale for $15, with $5 of the purchase price going to The RI Community Food Bank.   Free and open to the public. Light refreshments offered.

Crosswinds is a Rhode Island-based poetry journal that has developed an international following.  Next year’s contest judge will be Richard Blanco, a highly regarded poet who wrote and performed a poem for President Barack Obama’s 2nd Inauguration.
