A Dream Between Two Rivers, a new voice in short fiction

Get ready all short fiction, folktale, and fairytale lovers!  From new independent-bookstore based publisher Cutlass Press/Papercuts JP comes the debut collection from a bold new LGBTQ voice in short fiction, KL PEREIRA.  Known for their cutting-edge books, Cutlass Press takes on PEREIRA’s newest collection: A Dream Between Two Rivers: Stories of Liminality.  Before its publication, her collection has already received a wide variety of high praise from international best-selling author Randy Susan Meyers and  Boston’s own Paul Trembley, author of the best-selling novel— soon to be translated into film— A Head Full of Ghosts.

A Dream Between Two Rivers is both magically real and viscerally strange in the tradition of Angela Carter, Karen Russell, and Jorge Luis Borges. In this collection, PEREIRA weaves elements of fairy tale, folklore, and myth into the lives of women, children, and immigrants.  Get ready for its release September 5th at Papercuts JP!

Local novelists KELLY FORD (Cottonmouths) and MICHELLE HOOVER (Bottomland)

Join local authors and Grubstreet instructors KELLY FORD and MICHELLE HOOVER at Papercuts JP for an evening of reading and discussion.

From a compelling new voice in LGBTQ and Southern fiction, FORD’s Cottonmouths is a gripping tale of crime and desire amid small-town America’s meth epidemic.

At once intimate and sweeping, HOOVER’s Bottomland follows the Hess family in the years after World War I, as they attempt to rid themselves of the Anti-German sentiment that left a stain on their name.
