To celebrate the publication of Short Flights: 32 Modern Writers Share Aphorisms of Insight, Inspiration and Wit, contributor James Geary, author of the New York Times bestselling The World in a Phrase: A Brief History of the Aphorism, presents ‘Juggling Aphorisms’, a talk/performance exploring the power of aphorisms in literature and daily life through the lively juggling of words, ideas—and balls!

JAMES GEARY is also the author of I Is an Other: The Secret Life of Metaphor and How It Shapes the Way We See the World, and Geary’s Guide to the World’s Great Aphorists. He is the deputy curator of the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard and the former editor of the European edition of Time magazine. Geary has performed his Juggling Aphorisms and Mixing Metaphors show at TED, Live from the New York Public Library, the Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference, the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference, the Guardian Hay Festival, the Litquake Literary Festival, the Pebble Beach Authors & Ideas Festival, and many other venues.
