The historic Old South Meeting hosts ‘Movies at the Meeting House’ with a screening of the 1994 film adaptation of Little Women, starring Claire Danes, Wynona Rider, Kirsten Dunst.
This series, in it’s second year, showcases an eclectic array of movies featuring stories by Boston writers, from 19th-century Bostonian novelist Louisa May Alcott to contemporary storytellers and dramatists like Dennis Lehane, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck. These films bring to life the streets, neighborhoods and waterways of modern-day Beantown and neighboring Concord.
The Old South Meeting House (OSMH) invites you to kick off the holiday season with Little Women, an American classic by novelist and OSMH preservation ally Louisa May Alcott. Doors open at 5:15pm, film begins at 6:00pm. Tickets are available at http://osmhdec1-16.bpt.me. Advance tickets are $8 for the general public and $4 for OSMH members. All tickets are $10 at the door.
Light refreshments will also be available for purchase.
Certain books were “banned in Boston” at least as far back as 1651, when one William Pynchon wrote a book criticizing Puritanism.
