The Band’s Robbie Robertson

November 17, 2016 | 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$30.00

On the 40th anniversary of The Band’s legendary “The Last Waltz” concert, Robbie Robertson tells his own story of The Band, discussing his new memoir Testimony with writer, Peter Guralnick.

Robbie Robertson’s singular contributions to popular music have made him one of the most beloved songwriters and guitarists of his time, with songs like “The Weight,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” and “Up on Cripple Creek.” In his memoir, Testimony, Robbie Robertson weaves together the journey that led him to some of the most pivotal events in music history, including the trial-by-fire going electric with Bob Dylan on his 1966 world tour.

Peter Guralnick has been called “a national resource” by critic Nat Hentoff for work that has argued passionately and persuasively for the vitality of this country’s intertwined black and white musical traditions. His books include the prize-winning two-volume biography of Elvis Presley, Last Train to Memphis and Careless Love; Sweet Soul Music; and Dream Boogie: The Triumph of Sam Cooke, His recent biography, Sam Phillips: The Man Who Invented Rock ‘n’ Roll, has just come out in paperback and in an enhanced eBook edition.
