Words on Water is part of Eye on India, brought to the US by Teamwork Arts, producers of the Jaipur Literary Festival.  This year, we have Indu from India and Prjajwal from Nepal to discuss their current titles and writing life.
The authors will be in conversation with Kirun Kapur – Poetry editor for the Drum.
Prajwal Parajuly  is the son of an Indian father and a Nepalese mother. He made his literary debut with “The Gurkha’s Daughter,” a collection of short stories that was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize in the UK and longlisted for The Story Prize in the US. “Land Where I Flee,” his first novel, has just been published in America after receiving worldwide acclaim.
Indu Sandaresan:
The first novel of her Taj trilogy, THE TWENTIETH WIFE, is currently airing as a 42 episode television series in India, and work has begun in adapting the second novel, THE FEAST OF ROSES.  THE TWENTIETH WIFE won the 2003 Washington Stage Book Award, and Indu is the recipient of the 2008 Light of India Award for excellence in literature.  Her latest novel, based on the 186 carat Kohinoor diamond, is THE MOUNTAIN OF LIGHT.
Tickets are $31 and can be purchased at the venue.   $11 from each ticket will go to Nepal Earthquake Relief.
Tea service and hospitality to follow.
