Book lovers from around the Boston area will be gathering on November 9 from 4:00 to 7:30 for the Second Annual South End Authors’ Book Festival. Held at the United South End Settlements’ Harriet Tubman House at 566 Columbus Avenue, the event brings together writers and readers for a chance to chat about books, hear about new projects, and ask questions about long time favorites.
Highlights will include the release of a new edition of Mel King’s 1980 classic, Chain of Change, and a new book by well-loved South Ender, Lynn Potts.
Timed to coincide with the beginning of the holiday shopping season, there will be opportunities to buy books and have them signed. Light refreshments will also be served.
The event is free and open to everyone. For more information, call (617) 375-8108 or visit USES.org/bookfestival.
Certain books were “banned in Boston” at least as far back as 1651, when one William Pynchon wrote a book criticizing Puritanism.
